ABOUT
YOU CAN DO BIG THINGS
How do I know?! Gurl, let me tell you.
Then UnYoung saw me.
She owned the local cafe where I got a job to help pay the rent. She saw something in me that I couldn’t see myself, and stopped at nothing to help me see it too - until I quit that job and became a full-time university student.
Then Dr. Arne Kislenko saw me.
Arne was my university professor. He gave me a C on the first paper I ever wrote for him. He said, “Dani, you can do better than this.” He believed in me, pushed me, gave me opportunities beyond my wildest dreams, and held me to a standard that no one else had before.
I WAS PUT ON THIS EARTH TO HELP WOMEN DO BIG THINGS.
But to get here, I had to overcome more obstacles than you can swing a cat at.
Rewind to 2005. I’m 23 years old. I didn’t finish high school. My dad had just remarried and was starting a new family. My mom and I had just lost our house. I was totally defeated by the cards life had dealt me. My only goal was to get through the everyday.
Then Ophir Sarusi saw me.
My husband, one of the most talented photographers I know, saw what I could do with a camera and saw the professional photographer I was meant to be.
He remains my biggest fan and most honest critic - constantly pushing me to be better, work harder, and to own up to my awesome.
THAT'S WHAT IT TAKES.
Someone who believes in you.
Someone who can see you - without the fog of your self-doubt.
Someone who doesn’t define you by your past.
Someone who challenges you to step up your game and do better.
I'M LIVING PROOF THAT THIS JOURNEY IS POSSIBLE.
I am here to see YOU, to hold you to a higher standard, and to inspire you to see yourself the way I do.
